Hey guys, today I’m going to talk about Camp Google!!. Firstly, I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Pranitha. I’ve also participated in Camp Google!!. Eager to hear my experience too, then hop along with me into the jolly experience of Camp Google!!.

Camp Google is a wonderful experience of a virtual summer camp!!. Two weeks of fun and creativity, will make you so busy even in this pandemic.

There are a total of five assignments to complete in the given time. This virtual summer starts from 1st July and ends on 20th July. There are two age groups, they are 8–11 yrs and 12–16 yrs. I’m 10 yrs old and took part in the first age group(8–11 yrs). Each assignment has an influencing video and a website link, to refer and tackle the assignment. You watch the video and get some ideas about how you’re going to tackle the assignment. In the end, they extended the date of submission to 25th of July!!. Luckily, I had finished all my assignments on 20th July and had nothing to worry about. So, participants like me, would be free!!. So, they scheduled another assignment. In all there were six assignments to complete.

Each assignment has a form to fill and questions about the given theme. That is how you submit the assignments. You either have to take a photo or a video on the given theme.

So, the themes of the assignments were, explore and paint, problem solving with tech, expressing through stories, crafts and sketching, cooking and learning a new language and staying fit.

The first assignment was, explore the waters of India with google earth. This assignment had a video and a link. The video described how beautiful and precious water is. The link was to google earth. I did a drawing on my own, which is how creativity will be shown. In my drawing, I drew big rain drops and drew pictures of some ways of saving water in them. Before I started the assignments, I didn’t know if camp google was fun or boring but after I finished the first assignment, I was eager to know the next one!!.

The second assignment was, explore coding with scratch. Now this is a situation where you’ll have to buck up in learning coding. Luckily, I’d learnt coding!!!. What an achievement!. In this assignment, you had to create a game on the Covid-19 theme. It could be a very simple one too, like a reminder to wash hands frequently or to maintain social distancing. I made a story on the Covid-19 theme. Like it was said in the instructions that it could also be a reminder to do several things, I followed the same! And succeeded in completing the assignment!!.

The third assignment was, enjoy stories with read along. Stories!!!, easy peasy lemon squeezy!!. Not so fast!!. The assignment was to add your creative juices and write your own creative short story. I wrote a story and I learnt a lesson when I was writing the story. So, I was writing a story with enthusiasm and the creative juices flowed in my body. Firstly there was a condition which was that only 2400 or lesser characters must be in the story. I wrote more characters and it kept on saying 2400 or lesser characters. So, I reloaded the page, ignoring the dialog box saying changes may not be saved and whoosh the whole story vanished. I had to write it all again!!. In the end, I wrote a better story and successfully completed the assignment!!.

The fourth assignment was, explore the arts and crafts of India with google arts and culture.

Hmm.., something creative needed. So, I quickly saw the video and referred to the link. Referred to the content in the website and tackled the assignment. In the hassle of doing the whole assignment, I thought about the way I’ll express the given criteria. So, I googled the art forms of India and I made a beautiful masterpiece and successfully submitted the assignment.

The fifth assignment was, explore the delectable world of cuisines. This assignment was to make a video of you making a snack and explaining it in another language. Again, this is a situation where you’ll have to buck up in learning a new language and this time, oops, I don’t know any foreign language!!. So, in the beginning, I misunderstood the theme and as this is a virtual summer camp, nobody will notice whether it is the truth or a lie!!. So, I knew the language Kannada and decided to make the video in that language. Cheater Cock number 1!!. But here comes the police, who is my brilliant sister. She made me understand the topic properly and I set off on learning a new language. I took an easy dish and explained it in Spanish!! And successfully completed the assignment.

The last and final assignment or the surprise assignment!! was, staying fit. This assignment is all about fitness and I’m good at it. I can do weights, dance fitness, HIIT, etc. Luckily, I’d recently made a fitness video and decided to send it. Boom, all assignments completed in a jiffy!!.

I was so glad I completed all the assignments within the given time!!. Firstly, a thing to inform is that, I started the assignment later than 1st but finished everything before the deadline!!. This my wonderful experience in Camp Google. I felt this summer was the best of all. I felt that as I’m experiencing everything virtually and learning it deeper and well. Hope you enjoyed my jolly tour on my experience in Camp Google.

Thank You!!
